Major new development for Wednesbury

Oldbury-based Developer Metropolitan is pleased to announce that they intend to commence shortly the development of a 15 acre site in Wednesbury, West Midlands. The site located off Holloway Bank (A4196), to the south of the town centre and close to the Black Country New road (A41) will house up to 200,000 sq.ft. of new industrial/ warehouse units.

The first phase of the scheme is well underway and involves the levelling and refurbishment of the land. The site is currently bisected by the Birmingham to Wolverhampton line of the Midland Metro and it is hoped that with the valued support of both Advantage West Midlands and RegenCo, that a new crossing will be constructed to include Stop for the Metro system.

Kate Broadhurst of Metropolitan is expecting keen interest in the site from both local and international companies in due course. “We have already been fielding tentative enquiries from a number of organisations, including a few multi-nationals and we haven’t even announced the site until now, let alone undertaken any marketing!”

The new development will link up with the existing Bilport Lane Industrial Estate, also owned by Metropolitan. The existing estate is undergoing a programme of refurbishment and the landlord has already been rewarded with a number of new lettings, including one of units totalling over 50,000 sq,ft. to Ecka Granules Powder Coatings on 15 year-long lease. Additionally, a number of small units have also been provided, each being 5,000 sq.ft. in size. Only one of these remains vacant for letting.

The total area of land now under Metropolitan’s control at Holloway Bank/ Bilport Lane totals in the order of 35 acres.

A plan showing the land and existing estate is attached to this release.
